From the beginning Aidan never liked sleeping in his crib. I think he equated the crib with a cage. We probably should have pushed the issue and just let him cry it out (but I’m pretty much a push-over). For the first several months I’m sad to admit that Aidan mostly slept in his car seat/carrier, but it didn’t take long for Aidan to outgrow it. Occasionally we would be able to get Aidan to peacefully sleep through the night in his crib. Much more often, though, he would abruptly wake up and scream the instant he was placed in the crib. Either he would literally scream for HOURS and eventually cry himself to sleep, or more often I would either end up falling asleep rocking him to sleep in the rocking chair or falling asleep with Aidan on the couch. This needed to change!! Since Aidan had managed to climb out of his crib on several occasions (and I worried about him hurting himself), and since did just fine sleeping on the bunk beds in Vail, and often naps on the living room couches we figured that it was time to remove the rail from the crib, converting it into a toddler bed. Aidan seems to like it much better now that it is less “cage-like”, and is THANKFULLY now sleeping through the night in his “new” big-boy bed.
I also trimmed Aidan’s hair for his first haircut a few weeks ago. It is still pretty long in the back, but I couldn’t bring myself to cut off his cute little curls yet (even if he does occasionally have someone think he’s a girl). His hair has grown back pretty fast though-I think it needs another trim. (He still looks like he has mad scientist hair.)
And soon Aidan is going to be a big brother! It’s hard to believe he’s not a baby anymore. My little boy is growing up fast!
